Shelley Horwitz has served as
administrator of Bay Valley Medical Group since 1990 and is a member of the
board of directors. Under Horwitz's leadership, Bay Valley Medical Group became
the first group in northern California to receive accreditation by The Medical
Quality Commission. Horwitz is also an executive and board member of Bay Valley
Management, Inc., a management services organization (MSO) that manages the
business operations of Bay Valley Medical Group and four affiliated independent
physician associations.
Before joining Bay Valley
Medical Group in 1987, Horwitz worked for the University of California, San
Francisco as an administrative director in the Department of Medicine. In 1995, Modern
Healthcare recognized Horwitz as one of the outstanding health care "Up
and Comers," under the age of 40. Horwitz serves on the executive committee
and board of directors of the Integrated Healthcare Association and was its
chair in 1997-98.
In addition, she serves on the
board of the California Association of Physician Organizations and is a member
of the board of trustees for St. Rose Hospital in Hayward. She was a director of
the Unified Medical Group Association from 1990 to 1996 and served on the
executive committee as treasurer, and she was a director of the American Medical
Group Association from 1996 to 1999. Horwitz is a seasoned health care
professional and sought after speaker on topics including physician
compensation, medical group management, managed care, and patient services
marketing.
Horwitz received her masters of
public administration from the University of Southern California and her
bachelor of arts in human biology from Stanford University. |
