With summer just around the corner, many families are getting packed and ready for outings to the beach, lake or a backyard swimming pool. Swimming is one of the most popular activities in the summer months and a great way to be outside, get some exercise and stay cool! Learning to swim is a very beneficial life skill. Giving your child the wonderful gift of teaching them how to swim will not only allow them to enjoy water activities for the rest of their life, but it may also someday save their life or help them save the life of someone else.

“All the world is a stage, and perhaps there is no larger stage than that of medicine.” – Dr. Hudson
For a young African-American girl living in the South at a time where racism was still prevalent, medical school was a stretch for Carolyn Hudson. Born in Franklin, Tennessee to a family of four girls, Dr. Hudson was determined to be the first in her family to go college and pursue medicine. Growing up her interests revolved around the life sciences, and as a young child she wanted to become a biologist. It was later in her youth that she became inspired about having the opportunity to help people.
